ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Jina Kim is a Toronto-based fashion designer and the creative mind behind “sixnineosix”, a brand known for poetic storytelling, sculptural silhouettes, and bold materiality. Before studying fashion at Toronto Metropolitan University, she trained in Drawing & Painting at OCAD University, where a fine art background shaped her conceptual and visually layered approach to design.
The designer made a striking debut at Fashion Art Toronto, where her first collection earned the Myles Sexton Breakout Talent Award. Thanks to the support of Toronto’s vibrant creative community, the debut collection has been featured in numerous editorials, celebrated for its originality and strong visual language.
Building on that momentum, her second collection, “Blue Apple,” opens a new chapter in the world of “sixnineosix”.
Drawing from personal themes of impostor syndrome and desire, the collection uses apple and serpent symbolism to explore transformation and self-acceptance. Jina continues to push the boundaries of fashion as a medium for storytelling, emotion, and identity.

Blue Apple
"Blue Apple" is the second evening wear collection from “sixnineosix” exploring transformation and self-acceptance through the symbolic lens of the apple and serpent. Originating from a personal drawing created during a period of impostor syndrome, the blue apple came to represent both the alienation of feeling different and a deep desire to be seen, succeed, and belong. The collection unfolds in four distinct phases, with evolving blue hues symbolizing emotional growth, while orange introduces energy and friction, and white symbolizes clarity, rebirth, and renewal. Rich textures, velvet, leather and sheer fabrics explore vulnerability and resilience. Together, these elements form a mythic intimate visual narrative.

Eclipse Reverie
Myles Sexton Breakout Talent Award Recipient
For the "Eclipse Reverie" collection, the designer envisions sleek, jelled-down hair for straight styles, while curly hair will feature intricate braids embellished with wire for a unique twist. Makeup will be bold, with dramatic black eyeliner and long, spider-like lashes, complemented by striking black lips. Footwear will consist of all-black shoes, maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. Accessories will include black, gooey earrings that add an edgy, whimsical touch, perfectly echoing the collection's dark and fantastical themes. This styling approach will enhance the collection's narrative of duality and modern elegance.
